Department of Radiology

Over View

The department of Radio-diagnosis was established in March 2005. Emergency services were started in 2006. It is a well-equipped department with latest radiology equipments, fully computerised reporting and fully air conditioned department providing round the clock patient care services, both for in patients and out patients.

The department has Two Professors, Two Associate Professors, Three Assistant Professors, and Four Senior Residents to look after the day to day activities of the department and fostering radiology teaching to undergraduates (MBBS) and post graduate (MD-Radio-diagnosis) students. The department has got 21 skilled technicians to provide routine as well as round the clock emergency and bedside services in the hospital. There are in addition, Staff nurse, ANMs, Junior Assistants, Female Attender, totaling 12 to help run the department.

Vision

  • To impart high quality Medical Education to the students, to provide continuous improvement in patient care through research and interventional radiology.

Mission

  • To train the Undergraduates & Postgraduates in high Quality Diagnostic & Interventional Radiology care.
  • To collaborate with national & international institutes for knowledge sharing & excellence.
  • To provide quality Radiological imaging service for 24 x 7.
  • To promote ethical Radiological research for improved patient out come.

Generic outcome

To make students realize the basic need of various radio-diagnostic tools in medical practice. They should be aware of the techniques required to be undertaken in different situations for the diagnosis of various ailments as well as during prognostic estimations.

Program Specific Outcome

  1. Understanding of indications for various radiological investigations in common clinical practice.
  2. Ability to identify abnormalities in common radiological investigations.
  3. Awareness of the ill effects of radiation and various radiation protective measures to be employed.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)-PG

The objective of the program is to train a student to become a skilled and competent radiologist to conduct and interpret various diagnostic/interventional imaging studies (both conventional and advanced imaging), to organize and conduct research and teaching activities and be well versed with medical ethics and legal aspects of imaging/ intervention.
