Summary:

The Dietary department conducted  competitions on 16th  2025 at SMVMCH in the Hospital Third Floor Room no.307 to Celebrated World Food Day  -2025. Fifty Paramedical Staff, Staff Nurse, Nursing Students, Cook , Food Handler, Participated in the Competitions Fire less cooking, Food Carving and Poster Presentation was conducted from 10.00 am to 1.00pm.

Competition: Fireless cooking

Judges:

  • Perarul, RMO Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry.
  • Nasrin, Nursing Superintendent.
  • Mrs.Aventhiya and Mrs.Vijayalaksmi from the MRD department won the first prize .
  •  Mr.Tamilazhagan and Ms.Punitha from the Nursing department won the Second prize.
  • Ms.Keerthana from the B.sc Nursing final year won the Third prize.

Competition: Food Carving

Judges: Dr.Praveen ,RMO Professor , Department of Respiratory Medicine
Dr.Arun ,Professor & HOD Psychiatry.

Ms. Swathy of B.Sc Nursing final year won the first Prize ,Mrs . Siva Sankari , ECG Technician won the Second Prize ,Mrs . Kamala  from the Nursing department won the Third prize.

Competition: Poster Presentation

Judges  : Dr. Arul Kumaran, Professor and Head of Paediatric.
Dr. Poomalar, Professor and HOD of OBG.
Ms.Shalini of the Nursing Department won the First Prize,
Ms.Hamalatha of the Nursing Students won the Second Prize and Ms. Abi also from the Nursing Student won the Third Prize.

The trophies and Certificates were issued to all the winners of the competition by the respective Judges .

Dietetics

Dietary service is one of the most important hospital supportive services contributing to the recovery of health, through scientifically prepared diets & educating the patients regarding use & utility of different foods & balanced diet.

Dietary Department of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital caters a number of patients with nutritionally balanced & hygienic therapeutic diets. Its purposes are to maintain good nutritional status, to correct deficiencies & to prevent a number of diseases & to maintain body ability to metabolize the nutrients &thereby to reduce complications in a patient’s life.

The dietician increases the awareness and understanding of the importance of diet and physical activities regarding the good health.

  • Different therapeutic diet for different patients.
  • Diet charts available for different disorders.

The kitchens are located in the main block of the hospital. The main block kitchen provides diets for the all the in-patients in the wards.

National Nutrition Week Celebration – 2025 Nutrition Quiz Competition

Summary:

The Dietary department conducted a quiz competition on 9th September 2025 at SMVMCH in the Hospital Third Floor Room no.307 to Celebrated National Nutrition Week -2025.
Fifty Staff Nurses and Paramedical Staff Participated in the quiz.

Quiz was Conducted at12.15pm to 12.45 pm in the form of a written test with 30 questions [MCQ] Mrs.Tamilselvi of the Quality Department has secured the first prize,Ms.Shalini of the Nursing Deparment has been awarded the second prize ,and Mrs.Kanimozhi also from the Nursing Department has achieved the third prize.

The Winners will be awarded with trophies and Certificate on October 16th World Food day celebration.
