INTRODUCTION:

Endogenous endophthalmitis  is an uncommon intraocular infection with potentially devastating visual consequences. Early diagnosis and treatment of endogenous endophthalmitis helps in saving vision and sometimes the life of the patient

CASE REPORT:

A 57 year old female presented with sudden defective vision in the right eye for past 3 days associated with pain and redness and was diagnosed as anterior uveitis and treated with steroids and later presented as endophthalmitis and treated appropriately.

CONCLUSION :

Endogenous Endophthalmitis is colonization of vitreous cavity by bacterial or fungal organisms by hematogenous dissemination. Various mode of presentation like conjunctivitis,acute angle closure of glaucoma, non infectious uveitis,orbital cellulitis. Endogenous endophthalmitis should always be considered early in the differential diagnosis of anterior uveitis.
