Event: Oration on Hemophilia
Topic: Who am I? My journey with haemophilia
An oration event centered on Hemophilia was organized by the Scientific Society of Sri Manakula Vinayagar Medical College and Hospital, aimed at educating and raising awareness about this genetic disorder on 9th April 2024
Welcome Address: Dr. R. Praveen, the Secretary of the scientific society extended a warm welcome to all attendees, setting the stage for an engaging and informative session.
Speaker Introduction: Dr. T. Preethi, the Assistant secretary of the scientific society introduced the guest speakers, acknowledging their esteemed positions and contributions to the medical field.
Keynote Speaker:Padma Shree Prof. (Dr) P. Nalini, who is the Founder President of Haemophilia society, Puducherry chapter and Director Professor of Pediatrics, JIPMER (Retd.), a luminary in medical research, delivered the keynote address, sharing her valuable journey and experiences with Hemophilia.
Attendees: The event saw active participation from faculty, students, and medical professionals, reflecting a collective commitment to learning and patient care.
Honouring the Speaker: The speaker was honoured by Dr. D. Rajagovindan, the Director of the institute, in the presence of Dr. K. Karthikeyan (Dean Academic), Dr. P. Sanjay (Dean Research), and Dr. M. Pragash (Medical Superintendent) acknowledging her significant contributions to the field.

Annual Scientific Society Meet
The annual meet of scientific society was conducted on 16th of December 2022. Scientific society members including faculties and post graduates from all clinical, pre and paraclinical departments participated in the grand event.
The program started with prayer song, sung by our beloved under graduate students. Dr. R. Praveen, Joint secretary of scientific society delivered the welcome address.
Dr. G. Ramya, Secretary of scientific society presented in detail the annual report of the committee. This was followed by introduction of the guest speaker by Dr. T. Preethi.
The chief guest for the event was Dr. Pradeep kumar, Managing Director of Geeth hospitals and IVF centre, Kanniyakumari. He delivered an absorbing talk on the topic “Social media for Doctors- Hype of Hope?”which was enjoyed and appreciated well by the audience.
The guest speech was followed by prize distribution for the post gaduates for best paper in original article and case report categories.
Dr. A.K. Muhamed Raffath, post graduate from department of orthopedics was awarded the first prize in the original article category and Dr. M. Prarthana from the department of dermatology was awarded the second prize.
Dr. S. Anusuya and Dr. S. Jayapratha, post graduates from the department of dermatology were awarded the first and second prize respectively in the case reports category.
The prize distribution was followed by felicitation of the scientific society members.
Dr. R. Udhaya sankar, Assistant Secretary of scientific society presented deliered the vote of thanks.
