INTRODUCTION:
Papilledema is defined as a disc edema secondary to raised intracranial tension . We present a case of papilledema with multilayered retinal haemorrhages .
CASE REPORT:
A 50 year old male presented with complaints of headache for 1 month , he is a known case of cerebrovascular accident – right hemiparesis, cerebral vein thrombosis- superior sagital sinus thrombosis. His distant vision was 6/6 . Dilated fundus examination revealed papilledema in both eyes with haemorrhages in vitreous and intraretinal layers .
CONCLUSION :
Papilledema with retinal haemorrhages usually resolves within 3 months , on treating the underlying cause . Retinal haemorrhages in cerebral vein thrombosis have been reported with defective vision , unlike our case .
