General Instructions to Candidates

Centralized Admission Committee (CENTAC) is the designated Counselling Agency in the UT of Puducherry for Counselling relating to Medical / Dental Courses.

Candidates should apply online application in the CENTAC website www.centacpuducherry.in.

Before filling the application, read the online prospectus carefully.

Candidates should ensure the following instructions:

Candidates should register the application using the email Id and fill in their NEET-PG2020/MDS Roll number, which will pre fetch essential data relating to NEET score.

Candidates should upload scanned self-attested photo copies of the necessary certificates, in support of different claims. Original certificates must be produced only at the time of admission in the respective colleges.

All the certificates to be produced for various claims should be obtained and updated from the respective competent authorities and have the stipulated validity time.

A community certificate issued by Govt. of Puducherry is only considered for claiming reservation benefits under Govt.Quota.

Sports Quota certificates must be countersigned by the concerned authorities.

Candidates may login and fill their personal details along with course preferences. Only after making payment of application fees (nonrefundable) is made, the students will be allowed to enter their preference of courses. Without preference, the application will be incomplete and will be summarily rejected. Candidates should bear in mind that the allotment of seats will be made based on preferences of subject to the availability as per merit and reservation. Candidates are allowed to modify till the last date of application. Candidates should opt the choices carefully.

Once choices of courses are made, they are final. However, CENTAC reserves the right to permit all the students to alter the preferences for the subsequent rounds of Counselling.

Options once exercised with regard to community / special categories are final and cannot be changed once the FINAL merit list is published.

Mode of Communication

General Instructions

Further intimation and communication will be through SMS, E-mail & updates in the CENTAC website apart from publishing the same in the public media by way of press releases. After the online admission date is announced the students should refer to the CENTAC website www.centacpuducherry.in regularly, for updates. Candidates are requested to ensure that their phone number and email are valid and check the same regularly on a daily basis in their own interest.

Types of Seats:

  • The counseling in respect of PG Medical / Dental Courses will be done for-
  • Category 1 – Seats in Government Medical/Dental Colleges
  • This will also include unfilled seats surrendered from All India Quota (AIQ)
  • Category 2 – Government quota seats in Private Medical/Dental Colleges
  • Category 3 – Management Quota seats in Private Medical/Dental Colleges. This includes minority quota seats in PIMS and SVMC.
  • Category 4 – NRI Quota seats in Private Medical/Dental Colleges This includes only one seat in Govt. Dental College.
  • For Category 1 and 2 seats only the residents of UT of Puducherry are eligible and the reservation norms apply. For Category 3, i.e., Management Quota seats in Minority Colleges (PIMS and SVMC) for the first 2 rounds only the minority candidates who are resident of the UT of Puducherry will be eligible.

Eligibility and Reservation

NEET-PG 2020 For admission to all MD/MS/PG Diploma Courses
NEET-MDS For admission to all MDS Courses
  • Candidates should have valid NEET-PG or NEET-MDS score of the current year.
  • The validity of the result of NEET-PG 2020 and NEET-MDS 2020 shall be only for the current admission session i.e. 2020 admission session for PG Medical / Dental courses.
  • Candidates should be in possession of MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate recognized as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956 and possess permanent or provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council and have completed one year of internship or are likely to complete the internship on or before 31st March 2020. In other words, Candidates who are completing or likely to complete their internship after 31st March, 2020, will not be eligible.
  • As per the UT Govt. norms, for all Government Quota Seats, only Candidates who are residents of the UT of Puducherry are eligible.
  • For Management Quota seats in Minority Colleges Candidates who are residents of the UT of Puducherry and belonging to respective minorities are only eligible, i.e., for the management quota seats in PIMS, candidates who are resident of UT of Puducherry and belonging to Christian religious minority alone are eligible. For the management quota seats in SVMC candidates who are resident of UT of Puducherry and belonging to Telugu linguistic minority alone are eligible.
  • UT of Puducherry candidates claiming seats under Christian Minority quota should produce any valid documentary proof like Transfer Certificate or similar document to prove his/her religion is CHRISTIANITY.
  • UT of Puducherry candidates claiming seats under Telugu Minority quota should produce any valid documentary proof like Transfer Certificate or school admission certificate to prove his/her mother tongue is TELUGU.
General Instructions
  • Conversion of minority Quota seats into General Management Quota seats In case these minority quota seats are not filled in the TWO rounds of counseling, then these unfilled seats will be converted to general management quota seats and filled on All India basis. (please refer website for details)
  • For Management Quota seats in Private Colleges candidates are eligible on all India basis without any restriction to residence in the UT of Puducherry.
  • Ineligibility Clause Candidates who have joined the allotted seat in 2nd Round of AIQ / Deemed University may become ineligible for further Counselling by CENTAC, if DGHS circulates the list to CENTAC with the relevant instructions.

Merit Lists

After verification of the data, the draft merit list of all the applied candidates will be published. The candidates will be given one day to raise objections, if any, and subsequently, the Final Merit List will be published.

Separate Merit Lists will be prepared for Government Quota Seats & Management Quota Seats including the seats for minority Quota.

Online Counseling

Online Counseling

Only computer-based online counseling will be done. Physical counseling might be done only during mop up round. However, CENTAC reserves the right to change the mode of counseling, in case of necessity.

Seats will be allotted based on merit and choices, applying the rule of reservation wherever applicable and choices filled.

Sliding or Re-allotment from one college to another college is permitted during counseling only, based on merit and rule of reservation

Individual request for transfer of college will not be permitted under any circumstances

Mutual transfers will not be permitted under any circumstances

For Govt. Quota seats first Vertical Reservation will be done and thereafter Horizontal Reservation will be done.

There will be NO MOCK allotment. However, Draft allotment will be done during the first TWO rounds calling for objections. After considering the objections, if any, received the FINAL allotment List will be published.

Candidates are advised to give as many choices of courses as they wish. If choices are not made, it will be deemed that he/she is not interested in those particular courses or in those colleges.

For 2nd Round the Candidates will be allowed to modify the choice of courses already done by them during 1st Round.

Rearrangement of allotment during 2nd round.

In case seats fall vacant due to non-joining of the allotted candidates in the 1st round, then while doing the allotment during 2nd round the category entitlement of the allotted and joined students will be rearranged without disturbing the allotted seat.

Candidates who pay the Registration fee alone will be considered for the 2nd Round Counseling. Accordingly, updated Merit List of all registered Candidates who have paid the Registration Fee for the 2nd Round will also be published.

Sliding is allowed in the 2nd Round.

Sliding is allowed only for the following seats during mop up counseling:

  • Seats surrendered from All India Quota (AIQ) in the Govt.. Medical/Dental College
  • Unfilled Minority Quota seats converted into General Management Quota seats in case of Minority Colleges.

(This is to ensure that these seats which are not offered to all the candidates earlier are offered based on merit to all the candidates).

Other than the above exceptions, NO SLIDING will be permitted in the MOP UP Counseling.

Candidates who are allotted seats during 2nd round, if fail to join the allotted colleges, and then the Registration fees will be forfeited.

Important

It is suggested that the Candidate shall ordinarily not share his login credentials with anyone to prevent possible misuse, etc. It is advised that the candidate keeps a print out of the online application and the choice of courses saved by him for greater clarity.

General Instructions

List of 1:10 Candidates

After mop up counseling, if any stray vacancies remain, list of candidates in the ratio of 1:10 (i.e., ten times the number of vacancies), in order of merit will be sponsored to the colleges. In order to sponsor only those candidates who are interested, CENTAC may ask specifically the willingness of candidates for sponsoring and also may open fresh registration as well, in addition to the existing candidates.

Provisional Allotment and Admission

Online Counseling

All allotments made are provisional in nature and subject to verification of originals during admission in the college. If the provisional allotment is made based on any errors, false or incorrect information, the same is liable to be cancelled.

If the candidate does not report within the joining time, provisional allotment will be automatically cancelled. Similar procedure will be followed for the subsequent rounds of admission.

Original documents required at the time of joining in allotted Medical/Dental College are as mentioned below:

i. Admit Card issued by NBE

ii. Result/Rank Letter issued by NBE

iii. Mark Sheets of MBBS/BDS 1st, 2nd & 3rd Professional Examinations.

iv. MBBS / BDS Degree Certificate/Provisional Certificate.

v. Internship Completion Certificate/Certificate from the Head of Institution or College that the candidate shall complete the Internship by 31st March, 2020.

vi. Permanent / provisional Registration Certificate issued by MCI or DCI / State Medical or Dental Council. Provision Registration Certificate is acceptable only in cases where candidate is undergoing internship land likely to complete the same on or before 31st March, 2020.

vii. High School/Higher Secondary Certificate/Birth Certificate as proof of date or birth.

viii. ID Proof (i.e. PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Passport or AadharCard).

ix. Candidate should also produce the following certificates, if applicable

a. Community Certificate issued by the competent authority

b. Disability Certificate issued from a duly constituted and authorized Medical Board

Candidates without original certificates / documents shall not be allowed to take admission in allotted Medical / Dental College. If Candidates have deposited the Certificates in any Institute / College, then a bonafide certificate should be produced with an undertaking to the allotted college to produce the originals within a reasonable time which shall not be later than one day (upto 5.00 pm) prior to the next round of counseling. If the candidate who has given undertaking fails to produce the certificates within the given time, then the allotment shall be cancelled.

Service Bond and Stipend and Permitted Seats

Stipend / Service bond etc. may vary from College to College and CENTAC will update the same on website.

Some seats may be permitted but not recognized by Medical Council of India at the time of counseling. Therefore the candidates should examine these points and refer MCI website before opting for a seat. CENTAC shall neither be responsible nor shall entertain any case on above grounds.

Therefore, the candidates should consider these points before opting for a seat at a medical college.

The information received from various participating Medical/ Dental Colleges has been made available on CENTAC website. Candidates are advised to visit the website of college/ institution to check the information. In case they require any additional information, they can contact the college / institution for further information / clarification.

Online Counseling

Last year Cut-Off and Revised Cut-Off scores for NEET-PG 2019

  • The result of NEET-PG 2019 has been declared by NBE on January 2019.
  • The Health Ministry in consultation with the Board of Governors, Medical Council of India (MCl) has decided to reduce the qualifying percentile in respect of NEET-PG for the year 2019-20
